11. 1981 – 1983 DeLorean DMC-12

The DeLorean DMC-12, commonly known as ‘the DeLorean’ was the only car ever produced by the DeLorean Motor Company. The company went into liquidation with the crash of the US car market. The car was popularized by its use in the Back to the Future movie franchise in which the car was modified to become a time machine. With gull-wing doors and a steel backbone chassis, the car certainly looked futuristic! In 2016, the newly acquired DMC announced that it would be building 300 DMC-12s – each is projected to cost $100,000.
