15. Talkgirl

Made famous by Home Alone 2, Talkboy and Talkgirl were portable cassette players with variable speed, allowing kids to listen to music. This made the toy a necessity and a sure #1 on the wish list of every musically inclined little girl. This, essentially, was the best toy to bring on holidays. It’s similar to the iPod, where you can purchase and listen to various tunes, adjust the volume at the touch of a button, and some even came from with own internal memory — rather than cassettes.

Talkboy was designed for boys, while Talkgirl for girls, with the only difference between the two being the color. They came in silver, purple, and pink. While we can’t deny Talkboy and Talkgirl made the best toys, we’re also glad we’re moving away from gender-typed toys nowadays.
