32. 1907: Arrested by the Fashion Police?
In 1907, Annette Kellerman modeled this new type of bathing suit for women. It was seen as much too risque for women of the time, and she was subsequently arrested. Kellerman was a champion swimmer and music teacher. She was famous for her diving skills and swam as a ‘mermaid’ in the Exhibition Aquarium in Melbourne. She advocated for women to have the right to wear a one-piece bathing suit and was arrested on Rever Beach, Massachusetts for indecency.
31. 1967: An Early Portable TV Concept
An early version of virtual reality was created as long ago as 1967. Walter Pichler designed the idea to have the wearer’s head completely isolated so as their only focus was the telescreen in front of them.
