The 1950s saw plenty of political unrest; while most of the world was recovering from WWII, the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cuban Revolution, and the Space Race were all under way throughout the decade. In terms of technology, most US homes had a TV set by the end of the fifties, the portable radio started to popularize, and the first solar powered watch was invented.

Sports though were as popular as ever;  baseball and boxing dominated the sports scene, while football and golf were growing rapidly in popularity. Baseball was completely integrated in the 1950s with tons of African American players filling the major league teams. Hank Aaron, Rocky Marciano, Ernie Banks, and Wilt Chamberlain were household names. Check out these incredible athletes to see if you remember them!
